This treatment is used in cases of clouding of the lens capsule into the eye (secondary cataract) that occurs after the operation to remove the cataract.
In a cataract operation, the cloudy lens is removed from the capsule and IOL is implanted in its place, it is worth clarifying that there is no relationship between secondary cataract and the success or failure of the cataract removal operation, but rather it occurs gradually in 10-30% of patients after cataract operation.
This clouding forms an obstacle to the passage of light to the retina, which is located at the back of the eye, which leads to blurred vision.
In order for the vision to return to its normal state, the treating ophthalmologist uses a laser device under local anesthesia to make a window that allows light to pass through the lens without harming it.
Instructions to follow before laser treatment include:
1- Use of mydriasis drops
2- The treatment is done inside the City Eye Center and there is no need to fast before the treatment
3- A companion must be brought to drive for you because of the pupil dilating drops that cause blurred vision for a few hours.
The duration of treatment does not exceed 10 minutes.
